I had a bit of help from mum with this one as I was a tad busy with homework but may I say, Ham hocks are GROSS wrinkly things that kind of make your want to chuck up your lunch after handling them, especially when in submerged water. So basically after 2 hours of cooking these little babies are ready to do whatever you want with them, make some stock, maybe even some ham and leek pies and you can't forget good old ham and pea soup, but mum and I decided to Ham hock and soya bean (or broad bean) Salad... simple fresh and really green (that's new). That will be my next blog as for now I will continue to talk about the Ham Hock and its creepiness. The Ham Hock comes from the lower leg it can also be called the 'hough'. Interesting... lets see how that Salad turns out...
Shoot, just the name "hock" is enough to make me cringe. Sounds like something guys do on a football field...
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your project.
Thanks so much :)
ReplyDeleteHi Nat, I just wrote a really long message and it went to cyber space.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about the pigs trotters - definitely not inviting. I remember being in Munich and seeing three dead little piggies in a butcher shop window. To which of course, horrified, I took a photo. I am sure all the stares I got from the Germans translated to " Weird tourists". I can send you that photo if you like.
Hey does Nigella cook anything healthy? Keep cooking up a storm. Dagsxx
